Unit 4: Diaspora

This lesson aims to discuss the South Asian diasporic community in the world. Indians have been travelling and settling down in different parts of the world since earlier colonial times. Some of them were taken as laborers to work in sugar and rubber plantations, and some of them went as traders and merchants. Speakers of almost all the Indian languages are found in the Indian diaspora. Hindi-Urdu is often a link language in the South Asian diasporic community.
