Grammar Notes 10.4: Infinitive (in oblique form) + लगना
Infinitive (in oblique form) + लगना is also known as the inceptive construction. लगना, when attached to an infinitive, gives the sense of beginning/starting an action. लगना[1] is a non-ने verb.
For example:
- वह सुबह से ही पढ़ने लगता है| He starts studying from morning.
- राम खाना खाने लगा| Ram started to eat food.
- कल तक आपकी तबीयत ठीक होने लगेगी| Your health will start getting better by tomorrow.

- मैं घर जाऊंगा|
- राम अगले महीने घर बनाएगा|

- सरकार ने गरीबों के लिए काम किया|
- रितेश ने आपसे क्या कहा?

- लगना is a non-ने verb, so even if the infinitive is a transitive verb, the subject of this type of construction does not appear with the ergative case marker ने. ↵
