Honglou meng tuyong 紅樓夢圖詠 (Illustrations on Honglou meng)

The full text of a beautiful edition of Honglou meng tuyong 紅樓夢圖詠 ,  published in Japan in 1916, is available here.

The book was first published in 1879 in a woodblock print edition. The illustrations were based on paintings done by Gai Qi 改琦, who was no longer alive when the book came out. Each illustration was accompanied by at least one poem on the character featured in the illustration.

A number of illustrations in this course have been taken from Honglou meng tuyong 紅樓夢圖詠.
