Chapter 6 – Exponential and Logarithmic Functions

Topic 6.5 – Radioactive Decay

Radioactive Decay develops the concept of half-life and solves problems related to exponential decay using the standard exponential model. Notations in this subject vary, and we chose one that is used in physics applications, though the introduction refers to the exponential growth model for continuously compounding interest. The discussion relies on the definition of half-life to build intuition for solving problems rather than a strict reliance on the formula connecting the half-life to the decay rate.
