AI use acknowledgement
Generative AI tools (specifically University of Minnesota instances of Google Gemini and Microsoft CoPilot) were used in the creation of GenAI+U: A Student Learning Experience.
In particular, GenAI was used for
- brainstorming and outlining the modules after prompted with the human-created learning objectives, essential questions and enduring understandings,
- creating example images and outputs for case studies,
- an example generator for the many of the case studies when prompted with a human created prompt to expand on the idea, and
- developing assessment questions for the end of lesson knowledge checks and the Certificate of Completion, after a prompt of the learning objectives and course content. All of the text in the document was edited by humans, and there should be no piece of text that was directly generated by GenAI with the exception of where something is clearly identified as a GenAI prompt response. GenAI prompt responses were sometimes edited for length, because these tools can be super wordy.
