Tajikistan: Elena Tatarinova

Architect and sculptor Elena Tatarinova had a significant impact on the development and urban planning of Tajik Soviet Socialist Republic (Tajik SSR, modern day Tajikistan). She collaborated on the design of the Dushnanbe Stella (1954), a white marble stele constructed for the twentieth anniversary of the Tajik SSR in Stalinabad, Tajik SSR (Dushnanbe, Tajikistan). The Dushnanbe Stella was formerly a protected architectural monument under the Society for the Protection of Cultural and Architectural Monuments; it has since been demolished (2015) and replaced with a city clock tower. Tatarinova also contributed to the design of the Opera and Ballet Theater, and  designed the bas-reliefs on the Supreme Council (now Parliament) building located in Dushnabe, Tajikistan.
