Qatar: Fatma Al Sahlawi

Fatma Ibrahim Al Sahlawi is founder of Studio Imara in Doha, Qatar (2017) and co-founder of Atlas Bookstore (2015), whose collection is comprised of books and archival materials related to architecture in the Middle East and North Africa. Al Sahlawi holds a bachelor’s of architecture from the American University of Sharjah in Sharjah, United American Emirates, and a master’s of architecture in urban design from University College London in London, England. She gained professional experience working for Qatari Diar in Lusail, Qatar, and for Qatar Museums in Doha, Qatar. She was a co-curator for the exhibition “Mudun: Urban Cultures in Transit,” a collaboration between Brownbook magazine and the Vitra Design Museum in Rhein, Germany (2017). She also co-curated the exhibition “Making Doha 1950–2030” at the National Museum of Qatar in Doha (2019). Al Sahlawi has also been identified as a lead for the Qatar Blueprint project, a national development initiative overseen by the Office of H.E. Chairperson of Qatar Museums.
