Panama: Hildegard Vasquez
Hildegard Vasquez is the founder and head architect of Hache Uve, an architectural firm in Panama City, Panama (1998–). She holds a bachelor’s of architecture from the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) in Providence, Rhode Island (1994), and a master’s in historic restoration from the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid in Madrid, Spain (1996). Vasquez has served as a board member for the Museo de Arte Contemporaneo de Panamá (2001–2009), as secretary (1996–2018) and president (2018–) of the board of directors for the Museo del Canal Interoceánico, as a founding member and former president of the board of directors for the Fundación Calicanto (2000–), and as a moderator and fellow for the Central America Leadership Initiative in the Aspen Global Leadership Network (2012–). Vasquez earned the RISD Professional Achievement Award (2014) and the Latin America FT/Citibank Urban Inguity Award (2013). She was also named a finalist for the John P. McNulty Prize (2011), for Avon Woman of the Year (2011), and for the Hero of Panama award issued by TVN (2011).
