Nicaragua: Dorel Ramirez
Born in Costa Rica and raised in Nicaragua, Dorel Ramirez is the founder and lead architect of Dorel Ramirez Arquitectos, an architectural firm in Managua, Nicaragua (1996–). She holds a bachelor’s of architecture from the Universidad Iberoamericana, Ciudad de México in Mexico City, Mexico (1995). Dorel Ramirez Arquitectos has earned numerous awards, including an International CEMEX Award for Sustainable Architecture, a National CEMEX Award for Residential Architecture, and a CEMEX Award for Educational Infrastructure Architecture. Dorel Ramirez was named as one of the ten “women architects ‘who should all be household names'” by Dezeen magazine (2024), and was featured in the book 100 Women Architects in Practice Publishing (2023).
