Guyana: Dr. Anna Perreira

Dr. Anna Perreira is a lecturer in the Department of Architecture at the University of Guyana in Georgetown, Guyana (2003–). She holds a bachelor’s of science in architecture from the University of Guyana (2003); a master’s of science in urban and regional planning from the University of the West Indies in Trindad and Tobago (2011); a graduate diploma in university teaching from the University of New Brunswick in New Brunswick, Canada (2012); a graduate diploma in community economic development from Concordia University in Montréal, Canada (2015); and a PhD in construction engineering and management from the University of New Brunswick (2017). During her tenure at the University of Guyana, Dr. Perreira has worked on proposals funded by the Kings Foundation and UNICEF; she has also been a prolific scholar with numerous publications.

Dr. Perreira gained professional experience working for Habitat for Humanity in Guyana, Trinidad and Tobago, and New Brunswick. She has served as chair of the National Technical Standards Review Committee for the Electrical Sector in Guyana, and as vice president of the Caribbean Academy of Sciences Guyana Chapter. She won a Graduate Student Colloquium Competition hosted by the Canadian Society of Civil Engineers during the fourth International Construction Specialty conference (2013), was recognized for the best research paper at the 10th International Postgraduate Research Conference hosted at the University of Salford in Manchester, England (2011), earned the CARICOM Leadership Scholarship from the Canadian Bureau of International Education (2009), and she received the Guyana Institute of Architects Award from the Guyana Heritage Society Award for being the best history of architecture student (2001). Dr. Perreira is also certified as a LEED Green Associate.
