Guinea-Bissau: Djamila Mary P. Gomes
Djamila Mary P. Gomes is the CEO of Arkikasa Sarl, an architectural firm located in Bissau, Guinea-Bissau (2025–). She holds a bachelor’s degree in architecture and urbanism from the Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro in Rio de Janerio, Brazil (2003). Gomes gained professional experience working for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) Agency (2016–2017), as a supply chain monitor in the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) Guinea-Bissau (2017–2023), and as a director at Conselho Nacional dos Carregadores in Guinea-Bissau (2023–2025). She also worked an adjunct professor at the Universidade Amilcar Cabral in Bissau, Guinea-Bissau (2003–2006). Among her other accomplishments, Gomes was quoted in an Al Jazeera article about historical architecture in Guinea-Bissau.
