Greenland: Aviaaja Karlshøj Knudsen
Aviaaja Karlshøj Knudsen is the CEO of NunaGreen A/S (2024–), a company in Nuuk, Greenland, that focuses on transitioning Greenland to renewable energy through the use of hydropower infrastructure. Shen holds a master’s of architecture from the Aarhus School of Architecture in Århus, Denmark (2007), and an executive MBA from the Henley Business School at the University of Reading (2024). Since 2007, Aviaaja Karlshøj Knudsen has been based in Nuuk. She gained professional experience in construction and infrastructure development as a special advisor at the Ministry of Infrastructure (2015–2017), a project architect at tnt nuuk and at Sahl Arkitekter in Denmark, and an executive project director at the Greenland Airports Holding A/S (2017–2024), where she was responsible for managing the planning and execution of new international airports in the cities of Nuuk, Ilulissat, and Qaqortoq. She has also served on the board of Tusass (2018–2021), a national telecommunications company in Greenland. Aviaaja Karlshøj Knudsen serves as chair of the Arctic Economic Council (AEC), in which she represents the Kingdom of Denmark (2025–), and as vice chair of the board of INI A/S (2021-), a company owned by the government of Greenland that focuses on housing and property management.
