Antigua and Barbuda: Curisa Smith

Born in Antigua and Barbuda and based in Brooklyn, New York, Curisa Smith is the first woman president of the Antigua and Barbuda Institute of Architects (2022–). She holds a bachelor’s of architecture (Hons.) from the New York Institute of Technology in New York, United States (2016). Smith works for Andrew Goodenough Architect (AGA), an architectural firm based in Antigua and Barbuda (2021–). She serves as President of the Antigua and Barbuda Institute of Architects (ABIA), and Vice President (Caribbean and Americas) for the Commonwealth Association of Architects (CAA, 2024–). She is also an associate member of the American Institute of Architects (AIA). As president of the Antigua and Barbuda Institute of Architects, Curisa Smith hosted a virtual discussion in collaboration with CAA titled “Resilient Design Synergies: Harmonizing Climate, Culture, and Innovation in Caribbean Architecture” (2024). She has also presented on a panel discussion titled “Women Breaking Barriers!” organized by Royalton Chic Antigua (2025). Smith earned multiple awards for her academic excellence from the New York Institute of Technology, including a “Special Faculty Recognition Award” (2016), an “Engaged Leader Award” (2016), and was named on the President’s List.
