Algeria: Georgette Cottin-Euziol

Born on May 7, 1926, in El-Afroun, Algeria, Georgette Cottin-Euziol was a French-Algerian architect known as one of the first professional women architects in France and Algeria. She studied at L’École Supérieure des Beaux-Arts d’Alger in Algiers, Algeria, graduating with a baccalaureate, and also held a diploma in architecture from L’École des Beaux-Arts in Paris (1956). She worked as an architect in Algeria (c. 1956–1961) before relocating to Geneva in 1961 due to armed conflict, then returned to Algeria in 1963 after the country gained independence. She continued to work as an architect in various regions of France and Algeria (1956–1978) before relocating to Juan-les-Pins, France, in 1978. Towards the end of her career she also worked in Russia. Georgette Cottin-Euziol died on April 11, 2004, in Antibes, France.
