Introduction

A few years ago, I discovered our skills teaching program was flawed. We all worked hard and yet students weren’t learning.  With a little research, it became very evident our program was not optimizing motor skills learning and was actually detrimental to learning in many ways. I had assumed the brain learned skills similarly to how it learns didactic material. I couldn’t have been more wrong. Standing on the shoulders of others (particularly the armed forces and the physical therapy researchers), our program has made huge strides and we want to help others do the same.
