Early Civilizations in my Home Country – Click here for a copy of the activity

Do an internet search using special search terms to answer this question:
“Who are some of the earliest civilizations in my home country?”

  • Open a browser and search: “______________ (name of your home country) + earliest civilizations”.
  • Research: Choose a website. Check to make sure that you are using a reliable source.
How do you know? If you do not think the website is reliable, choose a different source.
  • Write down the link/source that you are using.
  • Examine any pictures and maps in that source. Read the information. Take notes.
  • Prepare a short summary to orally present (or speak) to your class. You can use the following outline for the presentation:

– My resource is ____________________.

– The country’s name today is ____________________.

– The names of the old civilizations in my country are ______________________________.

– The time period when they lived in that region was _______________.

-Some cultural practices from early civilizations that we still see today are _________________________.

Extend Your Learning!

Ancestral Survival Guide Poster

Make a poster with words and pictures, showing skills that have been passed down through your family.

Open the “Ancestral Survival Guide Poster” and review the directions.

When finished creating your poster, share your work with the class. If your class meets in person, you can do a gallery walk, display your posters on tables or walls, or speak about your work with a class “show and tell”.

If your class meets online: share by holding your work up to camera, send in WhatsApp, or take a photo and email it to your teacher.

NEXT: Review and check your learning!
