6.4 – Digital Literacy Practice

How do we use Generative AI?

How do we write good prompts? How do we evaluate the generated output? How do we use chatbots ethically and effectively? How do we detect fake images and fake information?

Open your Chatbot app (ChatGPT, Gemini, Copilot, Claude) and use the following prompts to ask questions.

Example Prompts

  1. After you get the output, carefully examine it to see if it meets your needs.
  2. Edit the output as you wish.
  3. Write prompts to ask new questions.

However, please use GenAI tools carefully: (Source)

  • Don’t just copy what a GenAI tool gives you. Make sure you check it carefully for accuracy and bias. You should edit the output to fit your needs. This output is just the beginning, you need to add your own voice and thoughts to it.
  • Never include personal information or anything that is copyrighted in the prompts you write.
  • Also, remember that AI tools can sometimes make things up or give wrong answers.
  • When asking for information, also ask the GenAI tool to list the sources it has used

It is also possible for GenAI models to generate fake texts, pictures, and videos.

Look at these slides to learn how to detect fake images. [Note: The activities on the slides are optional.] (Source)
