13.8 – Module Project and Reflection
Let’s write a high-quality job posting for a new position!
You and others are going to work together to answer the following question: How can we ensure that we’re treating people well for long-term career sustainability?
1) As a class, look over the Module 13 Project: Positive Workplace Job Posting handout.
Working with a partner, small group, or in a breakout room group, look at Step 1 of the handout. Thinking about your past/present work experiences, discuss some of your worst work experiences and also your best work experiences. Make sure to explain why they were best/worst, and record your answers in the space provided. If time allows, share some of the experiences you wrote about with the class.
2) Go over the directions for Step 2 – how workplaces can make workers feel happy, healthy, and interested in staying there for a long time? As a whole class, discuss the job description and which selections make for a good workplace, and circle or record your answers.
What other factors might interest applicants? [i.e., environmentally safe production; safe workspace and equipment for workers; paid time off for vacation, holidays, sick time, etc.]
3) Go over directions for Step 3 and, using your selections from Step 2, work in groups to write the job posting. When finished, student groups can share their job postings and compare the conditions they prioritized.
Finally, how might you (or others) fight for these positive workplace conditions at a company or organization that does not have them?
