13.7 – Think and Apply Activity 2

Before beginning this activity, review this brief summary of the reading text for Module 13: Industrialization and Labor.

The Industrial Revolution began in the mid-1700s and changed how people worked. People moved from small, personal labor to large factory production. As machines and big companies grew, workers faced poor conditions which led them to form labor unions to fight for better pay and safety. Today, unions still help support fair wages and working conditions. Globalization and new technologies continue to reshape jobs, making it important for workers to learn new skills and carefully choose career paths.

  3. We’ve been discussing the word “sustainable.” What would it mean to have a “sustainable” career?
  4. Consider the “growing industries” listed on the infographic. Do you see jobs or industries that might interest you? What are they, and why are they interesting to you?

NEXT: Let’s work together on a project about what we’ve learned!
